CDS Set to Replace CHIEF imports in September
UK government has planned upcoming changes to the customs process. This September, the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) will officially replace the current CHIEF platform as the only system available for submitting import declarations.
After Friday 30th September 2022, the CHIEF system will no longer be available for import declarations and the same will apply for Exports from March next year.
Most of the preparation for this change is being handled by software houses and customs brokers like Jenkar and will not largely affect our customers.
The CDS system should offer features for importers and exporters and we will provide more information about that nearer the time.
What should importers do now to prepare?
The most important thing for importers to do now is to register for CDS, which can be done here:
Should you require any further information about the upcoming changes, or wish to discuss our one stop shop options for customs brokerage, then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Jenkar team.
