P&O Cancel Ferries & Cut 800 Staff

P&O suspended their ferry services in the build up to a major announcement today, which was followed by the news that around 800 seafaring staff had been made redundant.

With P&O operating many services in and out of the UK, the suspension of services has already led to road freight delays through major ro-ro ports, including Dover and Calais.

The ferry operator has confirmed that there will be disruption to services for the next few days on its website, and it is widely reported that they will be using agency workers to man their ships.

This follows the news we reported earlier in the week that Spain has seen disruption from a national truck driver strike and that there are fears that France and Italy may follow suit.
