Shipping Suspended Due To Devastating Durban Floods

News

Devastating floods have impacted Durban this week, leading to major loss of live and shipping being suspended through the South African port.

Over 30cm of rain fell on the city and surrounding areas on Monday, which led to major floods and landslides and the loss of over 300 lives.

Parts of the main N3 highway, which connects Durban to the economic heartland of Gauteng province, remain blocked, as does the main route in and out of the port terminals.

Shipping to or from the port is suspended, therefore delays are to be expected for vessel arrivals and departures and transport for at least the next few days.
