Another P&O Ferry Returns To Service After Inspection

News, Road Freight

The ‘Pride Of Canterbury’ has become the third P&O ferry to return to the essential Dover/Calais route after passing its safety inspection by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA).

The ferry’s imminent return to service, following approvals for the ‘Spirit of Britain’ and the ‘Pride of Kent’ ferries, will provide a much needed capacity boost on this critical route and only leaves just one P&O ro-ro vessel yet to be inspected.

UK/European transport operators have felt the capacity pinch since P&O sacked their seafaring staff in February, leading to the ceasing of operations for many of their ships. The news will be welcomed by passengers too as the bust summer season approaches.

According to a report in The Loadstar, an MCA spokesman commented “The inspection on board the Pride of Canterbury has been completed and the vessel can commence operations. There are no further inspections of P&O Ferries at the moment, but we will reinspect when requested.”
