Civil Service Strike To Impact Ports

HM Customs have advised that this week’s civil service strike is likely to impact movements through UK airports, seaports and ro-ro ports.

Around 100,000 civil service members are expected to join the strike on Wednesday 1 February, and while Customs employees are not expected to be involved, the dispute includes Home Office employees – notably Border Force.

Therefore movements through UK ports and airports may be disrupted, as well as UK Border controls in Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles. Any disruption will likely run into 2nd February as staffing levels return to normal.

Travellers could also be delayed through the UK’s airports and passenger terminals due to the reduced staffing levels, or absence, of Border Force.
