An End To Liverpool Port Strikes

News

The latest scheduled port strike at Liverpool Port has been cancelled, with an agreement now reached between the management and the Unite union that should bring an end to the pay dispute.

Around 600 Port workers were set to continue their waves of strike action with another walk out today, 14th November, but have now voted overwhelmingly to accept the port’s latest offer.

The port has already been disrupted by three strikes since the industrial action started on September 19th, but last week the Union and its members accepted Peel Ports offer, believed to represent increases of between 14 and 18%.

With further strikes at Felixstowe seemingly on hold and now the Liverpool dispute resolved, this may mark an end to this bout of UK Port Strikes. However, sporadic strikes continue to impact northern european ports, with Antwerp beng the latest affected by a two day walk out last week.
