UK’s Largest Container Port Set For Strike
Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port, is set to strike next month after port workers voted in favour of industrial action.

Members of the Unite Union held a ballot recently and 92% voted to strike, following the last round of talks with the port. The dispute is over pay, with the port only willing to offer a 5% rise. Unite claim that with inflation over 11%, this offer is effectively a pay cut.
No definitive date has been announced for next month’s strike, with Unite suggesting they are pausing for a ‘small window of opportunity’ to allow the port to reconsider its stance.
Depending on the length of any action, a strike at Felixstowe will cause major disruption to many of the UK’s importers and exporters.
